This six-story residential scheme by Artline SRL Architects is located in a deep forest on the outskirts of Bucharest. The building is like a continuous white ribbon that winds its way through the trees. With its inner courtyards, all apartments enjoy views out onto the forest.
The relationship with the exterior landscape is created by means of two types of terrace balconies, some of which are covered and integrated into the volume, while others are generated by the alternating cantilever projections across the different levels. The concept is based on the interplay of simple, rectilinear volumes which differentiate the housing units and reduce the building to a human scale.
The intended emphasis of the volume and the pursuit of an aesthetic unity led to the use of white cladding. The building envelope functions as a ventilated facade clad with Swisspearl fiber cement panels that enhance the architectural gesture. The project takes into account sustainable concepts, such as passive house principles, and has earned an “excellent” rating on the BREEAM certificate.
