Planters and objects for interior and exterior applications

Shaping space with fiber cement

Swisspearl garden products are crafted from fiber cement and designed for both exterior and interior environments. The material provides durability, weather resistance, and long-term dimensional stability.

Originally developed for planter applications in the early 20th century, fiber cement continues to support a range of architectural and design objects. Select pieces, including the Loop Chair by Willy Guhl, reflect the material’s ability to be formed into functional, design-driven elements.

Swisspearl garden products are available through Greenform, the US supplier for this collection.

Material characteristics

Durable planters and design objects

Swisspearl fiber cement is defined by its durability, stability, and resistance to weather exposure. Planters and objects maintain their form over time, even in demanding exterior conditions.

Rather than remaining unchanged, the material develops subtle variation as it ages. Surface tone and texture evolve with exposure to climate and use, giving each piece a distinct character over time.

Our manufacturer

Natural. Consistent. Hand-formed.

Swisspearl has been a pioneer in the production of fiber cement for facade applications, with a long-standing focus on collaboration with architects and designers. This approach has shaped a manufacturing process that bridges material, design, and industrial production.

The result is fiber cement elements defined by natural composition, consistent quality, and controlled forming, balancing material authenticity with repeatable performance.

Material for designers

Fiber cement as a design medium

Willy Guhl and the foundation of the collection

Fiber cement has long attracted designers for its combination of workability and durability. When Swiss designer Willy Guhl began working with the material in the early 1950s, he explored its ability to be formed while moist, its minimal thickness, and its long-term stability. His work established the foundation for what is now the Swisspearl garden and living collection.

Timeless objects, ongoing development

Today, Swisspearl continues to collaborate with designers, architects, and manufacturers to develop planters and objects for interior and exterior applications. The material’s malleability allows for a wide range of forms—from planters and seating to tables, lighting, and custom design elements—while maintaining durability and a surface that develops character over time.
