Vertical steel battens, horizontal panels in a staggered pattern. A homely twist with mixed facade materials.

The multi-family building on Tryffelvägen in Uppsala was designed by Kirsh + Dereka Arkitekter. The facade is clad with smooth Swisspearl Patina Original NXT panels arranged horizontally, while the recessed building volumes feature vertical wooden cladding. This contrast enhances the building’s shape and creates an interesting visual dynamic.

The architects chose a dark panel color with a warm tone, combined with lighter wood, to give the building a more intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

Architect John Kirsh explains what was important in the process:
“It was crucial for us to choose maintenance-free materials. Both fiber cement and heat-treated wood are durable materials that can last up to 40 years without hardly any maintenance.”
