Working closely with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), the Raise the Roof initiative, and colleges across the UK, we can open up clearer pathways into roofing careers and show just how many opportunities the industry has to offer.
A big part of that is making sure students get practical experience. We supply our fibre cement slates and roofing products directly to colleges, so students can train with the same materials they’ll use on site. It’s about building confidence, developing real skills, and helping them feel ready for the job from day one.
But it’s not just about products. We spend time with colleges and training providers, listening and learning — understanding how roofing is being taught and where we can support better. That insight helps us improve how we work as a manufacturer, from our processes to the technical support we provide.
Working side by side with both tutors and students allows us to help bridge the gap between training and the realities of the job, making that transition into the industry much smoother.
There’s still more to do, though. The more we work together as an industry, the stronger we’ll be. By encouraging more manufacturers to get involved — sharing knowledge, supporting training, and giving students access to real materials — we can make a lasting difference.
