Fågelsången Primary School and Sports Hall – Form, Colour, and Material in Dialogue
Located in Salem, just south of Greater Stockholm, Fågelsången Primary School and Sports Hall stand out in their surroundings with a strong architectural identity. The round buildings and triangular windows form a sculptural ensemble where playfulness and functionality meet.
The circular geometry is both practical and symbolic: the buildings open toward all directions, welcoming students from every side and creating an embracing, inclusive gesture.
The school building is clad in olive‑green ceramic tiles, while the sports hall features warm, rust‑red Swisspearl Terra façade panels in the shade Amber 754. The hall’s expressive window composition evokes the character of a circus drum, giving the building a lively and inviting appearance.
Both the primary school and the sports hall have achieved Miljöbyggnad 3.0 Silver environmental certification, reflecting their high standards in sustainability and energy performance.
Terra is a façade panel with a translucent, richly pigmented surface. Its expressive finish allows buildings to blend naturally and elegantly into their surroundings, creating a harmonious dialogue with the landscape.
