A Residence That Blends Materials and Form into a Unified Design - Swisspearl

Villa Thull

A Residence Defined by the Harmony of Materials and Form

A Dutch couple fulfilled their dream of a home on a nature reserve in Schinnen, the Netherlands. Designed by Rich Schäfer / 3d Visie Architects, the house combines a clear architectural language with functionality and carefully considered material choices.

The U-shaped structure defines a sheltered, sunlit terrace and follows the natural contours of the landscape, allowing the building to integrate seamlessly into its surroundings.

Warm wooden slats bring rhythm to the façades and create a dialogue with Patina Original NXT fibre cement panels in shade P020. The interplay of materials enhances the horizontal expression of the architecture and highlights its refined detailing.

Patina Original NXT - A material inspired by nature

Swisspearl Patina Original NXT is a through-colored fiber cement panel, whose lively surface and subtle texture bring depth and a strong sense of materiality to façades. Over time, the panel develops a natural patina, enhancing its architectural expression and making each surface unique.

The organic variations of the surface, visible fibers, and sanding marks create a fine-grained texture that emphasizes the material’s natural character. The result is a timeless and honest material that supports architectural longevity and a sustainable aesthetic.
